Barnes set to compete for Cayman Islands in Junior Pan American Games

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA senior Lacee Barnes has been selected to compete for her home country of the Cayman Islands in the Junior Pan American Games taking place in Cali, Colombia.
 
Barnes is set to participate in the discus throw on Tuesday, Nov. 30. She also represented the Cayman Islands in the 2021 NACAS U23 Championship in Costa Rica this past summer. She claimed a gold medal in discus and a bronze in shot put. 
 
UTSA's record-holder in the discus, she set the new school standard with a throw of 51.52 meters (169-0) for third place at the Texas A&M Team Invitational this past April in College Station. She was an NCAA West Preliminary Round qualifier in the discus, finishing 28th with a 50.02m (164-1) mark.
