Three Roadrunners earn postseason All-Conference awards

DALLAS – Three Roadrunners were named to the Conference USA Women's Soccer All-Conference team, the league office announced today.

Seniors Kendall Kloza (D) and Ellis Patterson (MF), as well as freshman Anna Sutter (F) received All-Conference Second Team recognition. This is the second time Patterson has been recognized as an All-Conference Second Team player (2019).

Sutter was also named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. Sutter is the sixth Roadrunner to be named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team. She joins current teammates Lexi Bolton, Deja Sandoval and Patterson as recipients of C-USA All-Freshman recognition.

The four postseason conference awards are the most UTSA has earned in a single season since joining Conference USA in 2013.

Roadrunner coach Derek Pittman says, "we are so excited for these three players and the accomplishments they have achieved this season. It's been a historic year for our entire team and we can't wait to continue that today in the conference tournament. These awards are a direct reflection of the work done by our entire roster and our staff couldn't be more proud."

Kloza has three goals – two of which are game-winners – and one assist on the year. She has 17 shots, seven of which were on goal. She averages 10 interceptions a match and has won over 70% of her defensive challenges this season. The San Antonio native has started every game this year for the Roadrunners and won a C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award on October 5 earlier this season.

Patterson is a team captain that has posted four goals and eight assists on the season, giving her 16 points. Her 16 points rank top five in the conference, and her eight assists are the second-most in the conference. She has 41 shots on the year with 21 of them being on target. She had all-conference second-team accolades in 2019 and all-conference third-team accolades in both 2018 and spring of 2021. This season, Patterson broke the UTSA record for most assists in a career and is now up to 21.

Sutter has seven goals and two assists on the season for 16 total points. She's been ultra-efficient on the year, as she only has 13 shots and has scored on over half of them The Switzerland native is second in the conference in game-winning goals with three. In the eleven games she's played, UTSA is 6-2-3. She leads the team in goals scored and is tied with Patterson for the team lead in points. Her seven goals are the fourth-most in the conference.

UTSA opens postseason play later today against North Texas in the opening match of the First Round of the Conference USA Tournament. Kickoff is set for 3:30 CT and will take place at FAU  Soccer Stadium. The game is set to be streamed on ESPN+.
