Jennings hits a career high as Roadrunners sweep UAB

SAN ANTONIO – Alison Jennings recorded a career-high 12 kills as the Roadrunners swept UAB Friday evening at the Convocation Center.
 
UTSA started strong taking an early 5-2 lead. UAB came back and tied up the set (7-7) and the teams continued to battle it out until the Roadrunners hit a short run to gain an advantage (16-13). The set was tied again at 17 but another point surge from UTSA helped claim the set 25-22.
 
In the second, the Roadrunners and the Blazers stayed close to the halfway point (13-13) until UTSA hit a 6-0 run to take a 21-14 lead and force a timeout. The set finished on 4-4 run as the Roadrunners garnered the second 25-19.
 
UAB took an early lead in the third (5-3) until UTSA hit an 8-0 run to gain a five-point advantage (13-7). The Blazers then went on a 10-3 run to tie the set at 17. The teams battled it out until the end as the Roadrunners clinched the match with a 25-23 victory.
 
UTSA and UAB return to the court tomorrow at 11 a.m.
