Kloza earns C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO – After helping UTSA soccer defeat conference power North Texas, senior Kendall Kloza has been tabbed Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week by the league office, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Kloza, a San Antonio native, becomes the first UTSA player to earn C-USA Defensive Player of the Week since teammate Deja Sandoval won Oct. 21, 2019. Kloza is the fourth UTSA defender to earn the C-USA accolade.

Kloza helped lead the Roadrunner defense against one of the highest powered offensive teams in C-USA to only 10 shots (four on goal) and a shutout. She led the team with 12 interceptions on the week and won 83% of her defensive challenges. Kloza also  led the team with two shots (one on target) in the game and she played all 95 of the possible minutes in the OT contest.

Kloza has five shots in conference play, third-most on the team. She has two goals, both game-winners, and an assist on the year, and has started every game of the season.

UTSA (6-4-1) is off to the best start in school history, as the 6-4-1 mark is the program's highest winning percentage through 11 games. UTSA returns to action on Friday, traveling to face Marshall at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
