DENTON, Texas – Hannah Lopez recorded a double-double as the Roadrunners defeated the Mean Green 3-1 Friday afternoon.
UTSA gained an early lead in the first (7-4). The Roadrunners then hit a 7-0 run to lead 19-10. Another scoring surge for UTSA helped it claim the first 25-14.
In the second, the teams battled it out as the set was tied 11 times. The Mean Green closed out the set with a 6-2 run to tie the match.
The battle continued in the third as UTSA was able to gain a lead, but UNT came back and tied up the set 10-10. Both teams hit multiple scoring runs until the Roadrunners were able to clinch the set 25-22.
The momentum continued in the fourth as the Roadrunners hit short scoring runs to retain a lead until the final point.
UTSA returns to the court Oct. 29-30 when it hosts UTEP for senior weekend.
