DENTON, Texas – The UTSA volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to North Texas Thursday evening.
The Mean Green opened the first set on a 5-0 run to take an early lead. The Roadrunners were able to score a few points in the beginning, but short scoring runs from UNT helped it gain an advantage. North Texas closed out the set with a 12-2 run to claim the first.
UTSA was able to bounce back in the second gaining early momentum (13-8). The Mean Green hit a 4-0 run to tie the set and remained close until the Roadrunners went on a 7-5 run to clinch the second and tie the match.
The third set started out close until UNT hit a scoring surge to led 20-11. The Mean Green finished the set on a 5-4 run to lead 2-1.
North Texas kept the momentum going in the fourth as it garnered a 25-19 set to garner the match.
The Roadrunners and the Mean Green return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m.
