UTSA falls to Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UTSA volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Miss Friday evening at the Wellness Center.
 
The first set stayed close until the Golden Eagles hit a 5-0 run to take a 10-5 lead. The Roadrunners tried to battle back, but another point surge from Southern Miss helped them take the first set 25-13.
 
The Golden Eagles kept the momentum going in the second with an early 7-3 lead. The Roadrunners were able to close the gap to two (10-8) but Southern Miss was able to stay on top with multiple runs and led 2-0.
 
The Roadrunners tried to comeback in the third as it was tied eight times, but the Golden Eagles finished on a 6-4 run to sweep the match.
 
UTSA and Southern Miss return to the court tomorrow at 12 p.m.
 
Notes

  • UTSA is now 6-9 on the season and 1-2 in conference
  • Skyeler Embry led the team in kills with 11, while Mekaila Aupiu put up 26 assists and Mia Ybarra had 25 digs
