Carter recognized by the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA assistant soccer coach and goalkeeping specialist Cameron Carter has been named to the 2021-22 30 Under 30 Program. The recognition comes from the United Soccer Coaches, and was announced this week.

Carter was one of 30 individuals that were chosen from a pool of almost 300 applicants. The class includes nine youth, four high school and 17 college coaches.

Launched in 2013, the 30 Under 30 Program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to recognize up-and-coming members of the coaching profession who are 30 years of age or younger. The program gives participants exposure to mentorship, and the opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings, such as advanced diplomas and the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Coach Derek Pittman said of Carter's achievement, "I am very proud for Cam because this is an incredible honor and deserved recognition for her. I have been fortunate to watch Cam grow over these last 4-5 years as a coach and a person. She works extremely hard for our program and continues to set a high standard for our players and herself day and day out. This 30 under 30 opportunity will be massive for her growth as a coach and will be beneficial for our players and staff as well."

Cameron Carter is in her fourth season at UTSA after joining the staff in 2018. Carter spent the 2017 season as a graduate assistant coach on Pittman's staff at the University of Idaho. Carter joined the Vandals fresh off an incredible career as a goalkeeper with the University of Arkansas. There, Carter set program records for wins with 45, games played with 81 and minutes played with 7,143.

Originally from Waco, Texas, Carter played high school soccer at Midway High School.  She also competed for Waco United SC, Revolution Premier SC and the D'Feeters Soccer Club at the club level.
