SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball team topped UIW 3-2 in a Tuesday night battle.
The Roadrunners opened the first set with an 8-0 run to take an early lead. UTSA continued to score and kept the momentum going throughout the set until the Cardinals hit a 3-0 run to bridge the gap (23-12), but kills from Alison Jennings and Hunter Coppola helped clinch the set.
The Roadrunners kept the momentum going as they took a 3-1 lead in the second. UIW hit a 3-0 run to tie up the set. UTSA was able to gain another lead after multiple short runs, but the Cardinals were able to come back and tie the set at 23-23. After multiple set points, UIW tied the match with a 29-27 victory.
The remainder of the match was a battle for the final touch. All three sets stayed close until the Roadrunners were able to clinch the final set and claim the match.
