UTSA returns home to face in-state foe North Texas

SAN ANTONIO – The Roadrunners look to get back to their winning ways this Friday, as they host a North Texas team that is receiving votes in the Coaches Top 25 Poll. The match will be played at Park West Athletics Complex at 7 p.m. The match will be streamed on CUSA TV.
 
In their last contest, UTSA, who is 5-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in Conference USA, fell to conference opponent UTEP 1-0. The Miners scored the lone goal via a Jojo Ngongo penalty kick in the 12th minute of play. UTSA held a 22-9 advantage in shots, including 14-4 in the second half. It was the fourth straight game UTSA outshot its opponent, and over that four-game span, the advantage sits at 80-32. 
 
The Roadrunners hold a goal differential of 12-11 on the season. UTSA is averaging 1.2 goals per game and is shooting 39% of their total shots on net. The Roadrunners are averaging 14.3 shots per game. Through two games of conference play, UTSA holds a 40-20 shot advantage, a 16-8 shot on goal advantage and an 11-8 corner kick advantage.
 
UTSA goalkeeper Jil Schneider has saved 30 shots and posts a 1.08 goals against average. UTSA has seen eight different players score through 10 games this season. Ellis Patterson leads the offensive charge, as she has three goals this season. Anna Sutter and Kendall Kloza each have two goals to their name. Alissa Stewart and Patterson lead the squad with three assists on the year and seven other Roadrunners have notched at least one assist. Patterson leads the team in points scored with nine and shots attempted with 23.
 
North Texas enters the game on Friday with a 6-2-3 record overall and a 1-1-1 C-USA record. The Mean Green hold a 24-7 goal differential this season with an average of 2.18 goals scored a game. UNT is led offensively by forwards Allie Byrd and Madi Drenowatz, who each have five goals scored on the year. Mean Green midfielder Taylor Tufts leads the squad in points scored (13) with three goals and seven assists to her name. North Texas goalkeeper Sarah Fuller has been a force. She has allowed seven goals through 11 games along with 24 saves. Fuller is tied for the NCAA lead in shutouts with seven in 11 games played.
 
This matchup will mark the ninth meeting between UTSA and North Texas, with the Mean Green owning a 6-2 advantage in the series. The most recent meeting between the teams was last April when UNT held serve at home, defeating UTSA 3-0.
