Men’s basketball opens practice for 2021-22

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's basketball team opened its practice for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday afternoon at the Convocation Center.

UTSA opened its practice season on Wednesday with the first full team practice of the year, practicing for a pair of hours at the Convocation Center. UTSA will open its 2021-22 season on Nov. 9, hosting Trinity at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners are coming off a 15-11 season that saw four-year starters Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace – the two top scorers in program history – graduate. UTSA must replace the scoring punch of the dynamic duo in 2021-22, the second-highest scoring pair of any single recruiting class in NCAA history, while returning three starters.

UTSA welcomes back junior center Jacob Germany, sophomore guard Jordan Ivy-Curry – a 2021 C-USA All-Freshman Team selection – and senior forward Cedrick Alley Jr. A former four-star recruit out of Kingston, Okla., Germany started 24 of 26 games in 2020-21, averaging 10.3 points and six rebounds per game. Ivy-Curry started 11 games and averaged 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, while Alley, the former Texas Mr. Basketball and a transfer from Houston, averaged 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

In addition, UTSA welcomes back Erik Czumbel, who started seven games and averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. The Roadrunners also return letterwinners Lachlan Bofinger, Adrian Rodriguez, Isaiah Addo-Ankrah, Phoenix Ford and Artan Jabbar.

The Roadrunners welcome newcomers in guard/forward Aleu Aleu, Dhieu Deing, Josh Farmer, Azavier Johnson, Lamin Sabally and Christian Tucker.
