Trio claims UTSA Roadrunner Invite Championships

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis standouts Miguel Alonso (Veracruz, Mexico), Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia) each won their respective singles draws on the final day of the UTSA Roadrunner Invitational, played on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center. 
 
UTSA wrapped up the final day of the three-day event in San Antonio with a trio of singles titles. Ceolin posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Abilene Christian's Daniel Linkuns-Morozov. 
 
Gulin posted a 3-6, 6-4 (10-7) win over UT Arlington's Solano Caffarena. 
 
Alonso, a freshman, earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Abilene Christian's Oswaldo Cano Sosa. 

UTSA went 5-2 total in the final day, with several athletes winning their consolation brackets. 

Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) fell vs. UTRGV's Mykhailo Kvantaliani, 4-6, 6-4 (10-5). 

Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) posted a win in his consolation bracket, 6-3, 6-4 vs. UT Arlington's Miguel Cabrera. 

Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) fell to UL Lafayette's Vasil Dimitrov, 6-2, 6-3. 

Maxim Groysman (Bellevue, Wash.) posted a win over UT Arlington's Nick Beamish, 7-6 (1), 6-1. 
 
UTSA returns to fall tournament action on Oct. 2-10 with the ITA All-American, contested in Tulsa, Okla.
