SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball team closes out its non-conference slate this weekend in Milwaukee. The Roadrunners are set to play in the Marquette Invitational Sept. 17-18 where they will face Marquette, Northern Iowa and Wright State.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters this weekend 3-6 overall after a 1-2 weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational. The Roadrunners swept Albany on Friday, but fell to both Houston and Texas A&M 3-0 on Saturday. Amanda Ifeanyi earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after recording 23 kills, 41 attacks, five digs and nine block assists.
Senior Hannah Lopez leads the team in kills with 69, while Courtney Walters leads in assists (142) and aces (14).
Scouting Marquette
Marquette comes into the weekend with a 6-2 overall record. Last weekend, the Golden Eagles were swept by No. 8 Kentucky and No. 2 Wisconsin. Taylor Wolf leads the team in kills with 81 and Hannah Vanden Berg leads in assists with 150.
This is just the second time in program history the two squads will face off with the last meeting on Sept. 13, 2014.
Scouting Northern Iowa
Northern Iowa enters this weekend 4-6 overall after a 3-0 loss to Iowa State on Sept. 15.
Emily Holterhaus leads the team with 288 kills, while Baylee Petersen has 335 digs on the season.
Northern Iowa leads the series 1-0 with the last meeting on Sept. 3, 1993.
Scouting Wright State
Wright State comes in this weekend with a 6-3 record after co-hosting the Flyer-Raider Invitational. The Raiders swept Central Michigan, cliched a 3-2 match against Dayton and fell to Illinois State 3-2 over the weekend.
This is the first matchup in program history between the two teams.
