SAN ANTONIO — Coming off the program's third straight and sixth overall NCAA postseason appearance, the UTSA women's golf team will open the 2021 fall season on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 13-14, at the Sam Golden Invitational, which will be held at Wildhorse Golf Course at Robson Ranch (6,288 yards/par 72) in Denton, Texas.
The Roadrunners will compete against Charlotte, Houston, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Missouri, host North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulane and Tulsa.
The field will play 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and the final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
Head coach Summer Batiste, a two-time Conference USA Coach of the Year, welcomes back five veterans from last year's team that earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Louisville Regional, where they finished 13th with an 896 (303-298-295).
The all-conference trio of Camryn Carreon, Ana Gonzalez and Hannah Holzmann headlines the list of returnees.
Carreon, a San Antonio native, collected second-team all-league accolades after leading UTSA with a 73.95 stroke average while logging three top-10 finishes last season.
Gonzalez garnered her fourth all-conference certificate, earning a spot on the third team after posting a 74.43 average and four top-20 showings.
Holzmann, also a San Antonio native, played her way onto the All-Conference USA Second Team after recording four top 10s and a 74.1 average.
Nicole Polivchak also returns after registering four top-25 finishes and a 75.14 stroke average last season, while Katia Mexsen is back after logging four top-50 showings and a 77.5 average.
Hunter Nugent, a transfer from UIndy, and Morgan Ellison, a state champion from Georgia, will make their UTSA debuts this season.
