SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball team is set to play at UIW on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the contest 1-4 on the season. The Roadrunners went 1-2 over the weekend at the Ole Miss Invitational. UTSA dropped a 3-0 match to Ole Miss before defeating Northwestern State 3-0 on Friday. The Roadrunners fell short to Coastal Carolina 3-1 on Saturday to closeout the tournament.
Senior Hannah Lopez earned a spot on the Ole Miss Invitational All-Tournament team after a stellar weekend, recording a team-high 29 kills with 82 attacks. She also posted three aces and scored 33 points for UTSA.
Scouting UIW
UIW comes into the match with a 4-2 record. The Cardinals opened the season at the ACU Invitational where they posted a 2-1 record, defeating UT Arlington twice and falling to Abilene Christian. UIW then hosted the UIW Cardinal Classic Sept. 3-4 where it was topped by St. Thomas (Minn.) 3-2, then upended Idaho State, 3-1, and Eastern Washington, 3-0.
Bethany Clapp leads the team with 80 kills and 214 attempts. On the defensive side, Macy Sumrall has recorded 132 digs so far this season.
