SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men's golf coach John Knauer on Monday unveiled the program's 2021-22 schedule, which features 10 regular season tournaments, including the Lone Star Invitational at TPC San Antonio.
"Once again, we have put together a championship-level schedule," said Knauer, who guided UTSA to its first NCAA postseason appearance in 2021. "Our players come to this school to play against the best competition and we have given them that opportunity again this season. We will not only compete against some of the nation's best teams and players, but we will do so on some fantastic venues that will challenge our players both physically and mentally. Coach Ashley and I are excited to see what the Roadrunners can do in these events."
The Roadrunners will open their 14th season under Knauer on Sept. 12-14 when they travel to Choudrant, La., for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana Tech.
UTSA then will return home to host the Lone Star Invitational on Sept. 20-21 at TPC San Antonio's Oaks Course after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Roadrunners will round out the fall slate with a pair of in-state trips to the Trinity Forest Invitational on Oct. 4-6 in Dallas and the Bentwater Intercollegiate on Oct. 10-12 in Montgomery.
The spring schedule will tee off on Feb. 14-15 at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club before UTSA makes the first of two visits to the Southwest for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on March 2-4 in Palm Desert, Calif.
UTSA will return to Oakbourne Country Club for the Louisiana Classics on March 14-15 and then visit the Golf Club of Houston for the All-American Intercollegiate on March 21-22.
The Roadrunners will fly to Chandler, Ariz., to compete in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 4-5 and then make the short drive to Bryan for the Aggie Invitational on April 9-10 for the final tune-up for the conference tournament.
The Conference USA Championship is set for April 25-28 at Texarkana Country Club.
UTSA has its eyes set on a second straight trip to the NCAA postseason, which will begin on May 15-18 with the NCAA Regionals. The NCAA Championship will be held on May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
