UTSA unveils challenging 2021 schedule

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA soccer head coach Derek Pittman announced the 2021 schedule on Thursday.

"After a difficult last 18 months for so many people across San Antonio and the rest of our country, it is really exciting to announce our 2021 fall schedule," Pittman said. "Our players are ready to get back to a full regular season slate of games and we feel this schedule is balanced well with opponents that will challenge us in a variety of ways to prepare us for the C-USA schedule."

The 2021 schedule features 10 home games highlighted by the Drury Hotels Invite hosted by UTSA.

The Roadrunners open the season with three exhibition matches at UIW (Aug. 7), at Texas State (Aug. 12) and Aug. 15 when they host St. Mary's.

"With a full roster of talented players, we are looking forward to playing three exhibition matches to give our players an opportunity to settle in and allow us to try numerous formations and positions to better prepare for a tough season opener at Oklahoma State," Pittman said. "Playing the Cowgirls and the University of Tulsa out of the gate will give us a great measuring stick as we attack the rest of our non-conference list of opponents. We are really excited to play some quality matches in front of our faithful supporters and we can't wait to be back in front of our many UTSA Soccer Fans."

UTSA starts the season on the road at the BancFirst Cowgirl Soccer Invitational Aug. 19 and 22 where it will take on host, 16th ranked Oklahoma State and Tulsa.

Closing out the month of August, UTSA hosts California Baptist on Aug. 26 and Grand Canyon on Aug. 29.

The Roadrunners hit another short road stint when they travel to the coast to play Texas A&M-Corpus Christ (Sept. 1) before heading to the panhandle to take on Texas Tech (Sept. 5).

The UTSA Drury Hotels Invite is set for Sept. 10 and 12 at Park West Athletics Complex and will feature four games, including two UTSA outings.

"There are a few changes to the C-USA schedule this season, adding two crossover games against the East Division and increasing the C-USA tournament to 10 teams," Pittman said. "North Texas, UAB, LA Tech and ODU will be great opponents to host at Park West Athletics Complex and we hope our fans will come out in large amounts to support our 2021 team. There are a lot of incredible things going on within UTSA Athletics and our UTSA Soccer team is one of those worth supporting."

The Conference USA slate begins Sept. 16 when UTSA hosts Old Dominion.

The Roadrunners travel to UTEP Sept. 24 before the Mean Green comes to the Alamo City on Oct. 1.

UTSA then travels east Oct. 8 to take on Marshall in Huntington, W.Va.

The LA Tech Lady Techsters come to Park West on Oct. 14, then the Roadrunners drive down I-10 to face Rice on Oct. 17.

Wrapping up the home stand, UTSA hosts UAB on Oct. 22 and Trinity on Oct. 24.

One last trip to Southern Miss on Oct. 28 will conclude the regular season.

The C-USA Championship is set for Oct. 31-Nov. 7 in Boca Raton, Fla.
