CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — UTSA juniors Hannah Holzmann and Katia Mexsen have been named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, the organization announced this week.
Holzmann earned her second straight honor, while this is the first for Mexsen, and the two selections gives UTSA seven total under fourth-year head coach Summer Batiste.
Holzmann carries a 3.67 cumulative GPA as a sociology major. A three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, the San Antonio native earned second-team all-conference honors this year after ranking second on the team with a 74.1 stroke average. She logged four top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing at the Texas State Invitational after firing an 8-under-par 208 (70-70-68).
Mexsen totes a 3.93 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. She has garnered three C-USA Academic Medals for a 3.75-plus GPA and the Torreon, Mexico, native also has been named to the league's honor roll three times. She played in six events in 2021 and posted a 77.5 stroke average. Her top finish of 40th came after she carded a 223 (78-73-72) at The Bruzzy.
Holzmann and Mexsen helped lead the Roadrunners to their third straight and six overall NCAA postseason appearance this year. UTSA placed 13th with an 896 (303-298-295) at the Louisville Regional in May.
A total of 1,432 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics including a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
