SAN ANTONIO – The second highest scorer in UTSA men's basketball history, Keaton Wallace will suit up with the Memphis Grizzlies in the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2021.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Wallace will join the Grizzlies summer league team, which opens its schedule on Monday, Aug. 9 vs. the Brooklyn Nets at 4 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The schedule continues vs. the Miami Heat at 4 p.m. on NBA TV on Aug. 11, also facing the Sacramento Kings at 8 p.m. on ESPNU on Aug. 13 and the Chicago Bulls on Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. on NBA TV.
Wallace ended his four-year UTSA career in 2020-21 with a third consecutive All-Conference USA accolade. The product of Dallas' Richardson High School ranks second in UTSA history in career scoring 2,080 points in his career, the sixth-best total in Conference USA history and the 428th most points in NCAA history.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Wallace earned C-USA Freshman Team honors in 2017-18, totaling 11.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, before breaking out as a sophomore. He combined with Jhivvan Jackson to form the nation's highest scoring backcourt, averaging 20.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. As a junior, Wallace chipped in 18.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, before averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and a career-high 3.4 assists per game as a senior.
Wallace ranks among the all-time career leaders in UTSA history, checking in second in points (2,080), seventh in scoring average (16.8), third in games played (125), fourth in starts (109), third in free-throw percentage (80.6), seventh in free-throws made (304), second in field goals (715), ninth in rebounds (554) and sixth in assists (355).
He finished his career joining Jackson as the second-most prolific scoring duo of any recruiting class in NCAA history, ranking just behind Duke's Johnny Dawkins and Mark Alarie (1982-83 class, 4,640 total points).
Over his career, Wallace earned all-conference accolades from C-USA's coaches in all four seasons, was a two-time NABC All-District honoree and a five-time C-USA Player of the Week. Wallace's most prolific outing came in a 45-point outburst in an overtime win at Marshall in 2018-19.
