SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head coach Summer Batiste on Monday announced that the program has added Hunter Nugent, a transfer from the University of Indianapolis, to its 2021 class.
Nugent was a standout for the past two seasons for UIndy, a NCAA Division II program and member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Originally from Oakville, Ontario, she was an All-East Region selection and all-conference performer in 2021, helping the Greyhounds win their 11th straight GLVC title and advance to the NCAA quarterfinal round. She posted a 75.9 stroke average and six top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing at the conference tournament.
In 2019-20, Nugent was named GLVC Freshman of the Year and all-conference after registering a 76.3 average in the COVID-shortened season. She finished that campaign as the top-ranked rookie in the region and seventh in all of Division II after logging four top-20 finishes, including a runner-up effort at the UIndy Fall Invitational in her collegiate debut.
"We are thrilled to have Hunter join our program," Batiste said. "She has a strong work ethic, an unwavering competitive spirit and a great personality that will fit right into our culture. We look forward to helping Hunter achieve her high goals and can't wait for her to tee it up as a Roadrunner."
Prior to her time at UIndy, Nugent won the 2017 Canadian Junior Match Play Championship in what was just her second CJGA event. She also advanced to the round of 16 in the championship match play bracket of the 2020 Women's Texas Amateur.
Nugent joins 2020 fall signee Morgan Ellison as members of the Roadrunners' 2021 signing class.
