UTSA adds Miguel Alonso to signing class

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis has announced the addition of Miguel Alonso – a native of Veracruz, Mexico – to the roster for the 2021-22 season.

"We are very excited to ad Miguel to our team roster," UTSA head coach Sergey Avdeyev said. "We heard a lot of great things about him throughout the process and are excited to welcome him into the UTSA family. His work ethic and passion for tennis will be a great value to our team. I believe he fits right into our culture and what we are trying to achieve with our program. We are looking forward to having Miguel in San Antonio this fall."

Alonso joins the Roadrunners after an outstanding prep career, ranking as the No. 5 junior in Mexico and No. 390 overall by the International Tennis Federation.

He advanced to the Junior Davis Cup on the Mexican team in 2019. In 2020 he reached the singles and doubles finals in ITF level 5. He claimed a doubles title in ITF level 5 in 2021, also reaching a singles final in ITF level 4.
