SAN ANTONIO – UTSA junior running back Sincere McCormick has been named preseason second-team All-America by Walter Camp, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.
McCormick, a product of Converse Judson High School, was named to the second team. He joins Texas tailback Bijan Robinson on the second team, with Iowa State's Breece Hall and Minnesota's Mohamed Ibrahim named to the first team.
A second-team All-America selection by the Football Writers Association of America and Phil Steele in 2020, McCormick ranked second in FBS with a program-record 1,467 rushing yards. The 2020 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year totaled 11 touchdowns on 249 carries, both school records, while averaging 133.4 rushing yards per game to rank sixth nationally.
He averaged 5.9 yards per tote and caught 20 passes for 131 yards. He broke UTSA's all-time rushing yardage mark after going for 122 yards on 23 carries vs. No. 16 Louisiana in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl, owning 2,450 rushing yards and 19 TDs in just 23 career games. He was named Dave Campbell's Texas Football Texas College Player of the Year and a first-team All-Texas College selection. He finished the year as one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award and one of five finalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
The Roadrunners will open their 2021 season at Illinois on Sept. 4 in Champaign, Ill., live on the Big Ten Network at 6:30 p.m.
Walter Camp has named an All-America team annually since 1889. The final All-America teams will be selected by head coaches and sports information directors from the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision schools in November.
