DENTON, Texas – The UTSA softball team came up short to North Texas 3-1 Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series.
The Mean Green were on the board early with a single run in the bottom of the first.
In the fifth, the Roadrunners tied up the game. Kaitlyn Morado opened the inning with a single to left center. With one out, Kat Ibarra singled to center field and Celeste Loughman followed with a walk to load the bases. Riley Grunberg was hit by the pitch to advance runners and allow Morado to score and tie the game. A popup and a strikeout closed the frame.
UNT scored two runs off two hits and an error in the sixth to regain the lead (3-1).
UTSA had two singles in the seventh, but a double play ended the game.
The Roadrunners posted five hits on the day.
Clarissa Hernandez pitched all six inning with two strikeouts.
UTSA is back in action May 7-9 when it hosts UTEP for senior weekend.
