Aston adds two more transfers

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announcing the signing of two more transfers on Tuesday.

Jadyn Pimentel and LaPraisjah Johnson join Aston's first signing class at UTSA.

"I am so pleased to bring in two more quality guards to our program," Aston said. "Jadyn  'JP' and LaPraisjah 'P' bring a wealth of experience and maturity to our young team. JP comes from a basketball background in St. Louis and had a lot of success at Lamar as the lead guard. On the other hand, LaPraisjah is a versatile defender/scorer that will provide us much needed depth at the guard position this upcoming season. Both are great students and will fit in with our family atmosphere on and off the court. I am thrilled that these two young ladies decided to come to UTSA, be a part of this building process and grow with the Roadrunner family."

Pimentel joins the Roadrunners after spending the last four years at Lamar. With the Cardinals, Pimentel scored 990 points, averaging 8.8 per game. She also put up 305 rebounds, 342 assists and 325 steals in her career. The St. Louis, Mo. Native, was also named the 2020-21 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the year and is a two-time Southland Conference All-Defensive Team honoree. She sits third in the record book in steals and was named the Southland Conference Freshman of the year in 2017-18.

Johnson comes to the Alamo City from Nevada where she played the last two seasons. With the Wolf Pack, she averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. The Killeen, Texas native, also recorded seven blocks, 35 assists and 26 steals. Prior to Nevada, Johnson split her two years in the junior college ranks between South Plains College and Cochise College. At Cochise, she started 31 of 32 games, averaged 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds and helped the team finish with a 2804 record and advance to the NJCAA Tournament. With the Lady Texans, she averaged 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Pimentel and Johnson join Ndeye Ciss, Hailey Atwood, Queen Ulabo and Elyssa Coleman in this year's signing class.
