SAN ANTONIO – UAB clinched the series after sweeping UTSA on Saturday.
Game one
The Blazers scored six runs in the final two frames to take game two of the series with a 6-2 victory.
The game remained scoreless through the first three innings
In the fourth, Riley Grunberg opened with a solo home run to center field to put the Roadrunners on the board.
Taylor Medina started the fifth with a solo homer as UTSA led 2-0.
UAB scored two runs from three hits in the sixth to tie the game 2-2.
In the top of the seventh, the Blazers recorded back-to-back-to-back home runs to lead 5-2. With two outs, UAB scored another run from a single and a double to lead 6-2 and clinch the game.
UTSA recorded four hits on the day.
Clarissa Hernandez started the game, pitching 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts. Madison Nelson came in at the top of the seventh and Marena Estell followed for 0.1 innings.
Game two
UAB defeated UTSA 9-2 to clinch the series
In the first, both teams scored two runs to tie the game. The Blazers scored their two runs off three hits. In the bottom of the frame, Riley Grunberg singled to center field. With two outs, Kindell Brooks earned a walk and Marena Estell followed with a single to load the bases. Taylor Medina singled to center as Grunberg and Brooks scored to tie the game.
UAB scored three more runs in the second to lead 5-2.
With two more runs in the fourth and in the sixth, the Blazers claimed the win.
UTSA posted six hits against UAB.
Freshmen Tatum Seith and Alexa Williams both made appearances and had a combined four strikeouts.
The Roadrunners and the Blazers return to the field tomorrow for the final game of the series. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
