UTSA falls to UAB in first round of C-USA championship

DENTON, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team closed out the 2021 season in a 4-0 loss to UAB in the first round of the Conference USA Championship.
 
The Blazers took an early lead winning the doubles point.
 
In singles, UAB won the first match at No. 6, then followed with a victory at No. 4. Aleksandra Zlatarova fought her opponent until the very end, going three sets (0-6, 6-1, 5-7), but came up short in the third as the Blazers clinched the match.
 
Three matches remained unfinished. Jasmin Starr and Alexandra Weir were in third sets at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, and Keegan McCain was up 6-3, 5-3 at No. 5.
 
The Roadrunners finished the season 9-11. Freshman Alexandra Weir led the team in singles with a 13-5 record, followed by freshman Aleksandra Zlatarova with a 12-6 record. The duo of Sophie Omoworare and Zlatarova finished the season with an 11-5 record.
