Women's hoops adds Queen Ulabo

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach announced the signing of Queen Ulabo Friday afternoon.

"I'm excited to welcome Queen to our basketball family," Aston said. "In the time I have had to get to know her, it's so obvious that her personality and drive matches what we are looking for in our program. What will jump out to our fans is Queens' motor. I love players that play at a high pace, with passion and enthusiasm and she exudes all of that. A great student, who is challenging herself academically, socially and athletically. Thank you to Coach Alan Clark and to Queen for trusting the Roadrunners to push her forward in meeting her goals in life."

Ulabo transfers from Barton Community College where she played forward the last two years under head coach Alan Clark.

"Queen's work ethic, desire and passion along with god given talents add up to being one of the most enjoyable kids for me to ever coach," Clark said. "Queen plays with so much heart and energy, she sticks out right away on the court. As good as Queen is on the court, she is just as good off the court. An Academic All-American, a leader in the locker room, she is the consummate 'student-athlete.' Her teammates, instructors, everyone loves her."

This past season, Ulabo averaged 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She recorded 10 double-doubles in 10 games and averaged 32.9 minutes per game. The Lagos, Nigeria, native was also named Jayhawk West first-team all-conference.

In just two years with the Cougars, Ubalo scored a total of 824 points, averaging 13.7 points a game. She also grabbed 522 boards in her career.

Ulabo joins Atwood in Aston's first signing class at UTSA.
