SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will host the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational on Tuesday-Wednesday, March 9-10, at San Antonio Country Club (par 72/6,131 yards).
The Roadrunners will welcome seven other teams to the Alamo City for their annual home tournament, which is not open to the general public this year due to COVID-19 protocols in place at the course. UTSA, which is 57th in the latest Golfstat rankings, will look to defend its team title against Houston Baptist, No. 29 North Texas, No. 48 Old Dominion, SMU, Texas State, No. 31 Texas Tech and UIW.
The field will play 36 holes on Tuesday and the final round is scheduled for Wednesday with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts slated for both days.
Formerly called The Alamo Invitational, this will mark the 12th edition of the tournament, which was renamed in 2016 in honor of the late Maryb S. Kauth. This will mark the second straight year it will be held at San Antonio Country Club after previously being played at TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course in 2018 and Briggs Ranch Golf Club from its inception in 2009 through 2017.
UTSA ran away with last year's team crown behind Camryn Carreon (216) and Hannah Holzmann (221), who finished two-three in the individual standings. The Roadrunners posted a 54-hole total of 886 to finish 23 shots ahead of runner-up Old Dominion (909) in what turned out to be the final competition of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Roadrunners also won the team championship in 2011 behind individual medalist Fabiola Arriaga.
UTSA is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Rebel Beach Invitational on Feb. 15-16 in Las Vegas. Holzmann registered her second straight top-10 performance by firing a 5-over-par 221 to tie for ninth place, while Ana Gonzalez ended up with a share of 12th after posting a 223.
