Roadrunners sweep Prairie View A&M in doubleheader

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team swept Prairie View A&M 7-0 and 4-0 in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon.
 
Match one
The Roadrunners won all three matches in doubles to take the point. Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain defeated their opponent 6-0 at No. 2, followed by Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare upending their opponent 6-2 at No. 1 to take the point. Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique topped their opponent 6-4 at No. 3 to sweep doubles.
 
In singles, all six Roadrunners won their points for the complete sweep. Zlatarova defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 to win the first point. Weir topped her opponent 6-2, 6-3 to capture point number three. At No. 1, Starr upended her opponent 6-1, 7-6 to take the match. Cabrique followed at No. 4 with a 7-5, 7-5 win. Eva Beyebach went three sets, but came out with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 victory at No. 6 and Laura Munoz-Baroja also went three sets with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win at No. 5 to close out the match.
 
Match two
In the second match of the day, UTSA won two doubles matches to take an early lead. Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare defeated their opponent 6-1 at No. 2 and at No. 3, Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique also had a 6-1 result to win the point.
 
Keegan McCain won the first singles point at No. 5 with a sweep of 6-0, 6-0. Zlatarova upended her opponent 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 and Weir followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 to take the match.
 
The Roadrunners continue their four match road stint March 19 at UT Arlington.
