SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's basketball sophomore guard Erik Czumbel has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in a voting of the league's academic advisors, it was announced on Friday afternoon.
A native of Verona, Italy, Czumbel was one of five players on the annuals C-USA All-Academic Team, including Marshall's Jarrod West, Rice's Max Fielder, UAB's Trey Jemison and WKU's Charles Bassey.
Czumbel boasts a 3.95 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major in 2020-21. A two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal (3.75+ GPA) and a two-time member of the C-USA Academic Honor Roll (3.0+ GPA).
Czumbel has played in 23 of 24 games for UTSA in his encore season, making seven starts. He averages 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game and is shooting 37 percent from 3-point range and 83.3 percent from the foul line. Last year, Czumbel started 24 of 32 games, averaging 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
The Roadrunners (14-10) will return to action in the C-USA Championships on Wednesday at The Star in Frisco.
