DALLAS — UTSA's Faith Roberson has been named Conference USA Outdoor Female Track Athlete of the Week for her record-setting performance last week at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the league office announced Wednesday.
Roberson, a native of Wall, Texas, broke the school record in the women's 400-meter hurdles while finishing third at one of the top annual collegiate meets in the country last Saturday in Austin. The junior transfer clocked a time of 57.54 seconds to eclipse by more than one second the previous mark of 58.70 set one week earlier by teammate Alanah Yukich. Her school-record time leads C-USA and is in a tie for the fourth-fastest time in the nation.
This marks the second straight week and the sixth time this year that a UTSA athlete has earned the conference weekly award. She joins Andrew Pirog, who was named C-USA Male Track Athlete of the Week on March 24, and indoor winners Bashiru Abdullahi (twice), Chante Dixon and Ingeborg Gruenwald.
The Roadrunners are off this weekend before traveling to College Station for the Texas A&M Team Invitational on April 9-10.
