Roadrunners fall short in battle against Mean Green

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team came up short to North Texas in 4-3 loss Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
The Roadrunners garnered the first point winning the doubles point. Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique defeated their opponent 6-0 at No. 2 and Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain upended their opponent 6-1 to capture the first point of the match.
 
In singles, the Mean Green won the first two points at No. 3 and 5, respectively, to take a 2-1 lead. At No. 4, McCain topped her opponent 6-2, 6-2 to tie the match 2-2. Eva Beyebach dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match at No. 6, but Weir won her match 7-6, 7-6 at No. 2 to tie the match once again (3-3). At No. 1, Jasmin Starr went three sets (4-6, 7-6, 0-6), but fell short in the third as North Texas took the final point of the match.
 
The Roadrunners are back in action on April 9 when they host Texas State at 1 p.m.
