No. 54 UTSA hosts No. 29 South Florida on Friday

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis will host a monumental match up Friday at 2 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center as the 54th ranked Roadrunners will host No. 29 South Florida.

UTSA (10-5) enters the home stretch of its final four matches of the regular season, with the Roadrunners in striking distance of the ITA top-50 rankings. UTSA has won three straight matches, outscoring foes 12-1 during the stretch, and have won six of its last nine matches.

UTSA will host Lamar and UT Arlington and travel to Rice to conclude its regular season, with the Roadrunners owning wins earlier in the year over the Mavericks and the Owls.

The historic season from the Roadrunners has been highlighted by the outstanding quality of senior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany), who owns a 20-1 record in singles over his last two seasons, including an 11-1 mark in 2021. Reckow, who went 9-0 in singles to earn All-Conference USA honors last year, has won 11 straight matches in singles. In addition, Reckow has combined for seven doubles points, teaming with freshman Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia) for a 7-3 mark.

Javier Gonzalez (Trujillo, Peru) and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) lead the team with a 9-1 mark in doubles, while Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) have posted a 7-1 mark.

UTSA has also gotten an 8-3 record in singles from Ceolin and a 7-2 mark from Gulin. Skelly sports a 5-1 record. Javier Rodriguez, who in 2019 posted a 17-5 mark in singles – the second-most singles wins in UTSA history – has posted a 5-5 record.

South Florida (10-4) has won seven of its last nine matches and have been boosted by the nation's No. 45 player in singles, Chase Ferguson (6-6 in 2021) and No. 69 Jacob Wojcik (10-4).
