Roadrunners sweep the Cardinals

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team swept UIW 7-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Marby Tennis Center.
 
The Roadrunners started off strong taking the doubles point. Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabarique topped their opponent 6-2 at No. 3, followed by Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare defeating their opponent 6-3 at No. 1.
 
On the singles side, Keegan McCain won the first point with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5. Jasmin Starr followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 as UTSA led 3-0. At No. 2, Zlatarova topped her opponent 6-0, 6-3, while Weir upended her No. 3 opponent 6-4, 6-0.
 
The final two matches went to three sets. At No. 6, Omoworare lost the first set 2-6, but rallied back to take the next two, 6-2, 10-8, to capture the match. Closing out the day, Cabrique defeated her opponent 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 to clinch the sweep.
 
The Roadrunners return home for the first time since January when they host North Texas on Sunday at 2 p.m.
