BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UTSA soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 match to UAB Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers scored first with a goal at the 16:16 mark.
UTSA's lone goal was an exciting one. With just under two minutes left in the half, Lexi Bolton fed the ball in front of the net off a corner kick. A UAB defender headed the ball away from the goal, but Kiran Singh got a foot on it, fed the ball back towards the goal and Deja Sandoval headed the ball into the net to tie the game.
In the second half, UAB scored its second goal off a penalty kick.
Abby Kassal led the team with four shots as the Roadrunners posted 12 shots total.
UTSA returns to the field on March 27 when it hosts UTEP for senior day.
