BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB posted a three-set win (17-25, 20-25, 22-25) over UTSA volleyball to open a two-match series that concludes the regular season, on Sunday afternoon.
UAB (8-6, 7-4 C-USA) posted its first win over UTSA (6-11, 4-7 Conference USA) since 1994, using a 25-17 win in the first, a 25-20 result in the second and a 25-22 win in the third set.
The Roadrunners got seven kills from Bianca Ejesieme and six kills each from Kirby Smith and Hunter Coppola.
Courtney Walters had 18 assists, with Mia Perales chipping in 10 assists and 13 digs. Mia Ybarra had 14 digs and Smith finished with 10.
UTSA hit .073 in the loss, with UAB hitting .207.
The series will conclude on Monday at 11:30 a.m. on CUSA TV.
