SAN ANTONIO – After a three-match swing through Oklahoma last week, UTSA men's tennis will return to home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
UTSA (7-5) posted a win over No. 40 Tulsa last week, narrowly falling vs. No. 26 Oklahoma, 4-3, and vs. No. 41 Wichita State, 4-1. The Roadrunners saw Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) earn his second Conference USA Player of the Week honor on Wednesday, as the senior improve to 9-1 with a highly efficient week.
Reckow, who has won nine straight singles points, leads the Roadrunners in singles with his 9-1 mark, adding a 5-5 record in doubles over a pair of different pairs. This comes a year after Reckow went 9-0 in singles to earn All-Conference USA honors, a year after he went 15-6 in singles as a sophomore.
UTSA has also gotten a 6-3 singles mark out of Joao Ceolin (Palontina, Brazil), a 6-2 mark from freshman Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia) and a 5-3 mark from Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile).
In doubles, Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) – a 2019 All-Conference USA selection after a 17-5 mark in singles – and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) have combined for a 7-1 mark in doubles. Ceolin and Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujullo, Peru) have posted a 5-1 mark as a pair.
UTSA owns a 38-23 mark in singles as a team and a 20-11 mark in doubles.
