LAFAYETTE, La. — UTSA's David Harrison and Adam House are both in the top 20 individuals after the first day of the 36th annual Louisiana Classics, which got underway on Monday at Oakbourne Country Club (par 72/6,866 yards).
Making their season debuts and competing as individuals, Harrison is in a six-way tie for 12th place at 1-under-par and House is one shot back with a share of 18th after the first 36 holes.
Harrison, a sophomore from Trophy Club, opened the 54-hole tournament with an even-par 72 that featured four birdies, two on each side. He posted a one-shot improvement in the afternoon, carding a 71 on the strength of a trio of birdies on a four-hole stretch on the back nine and an eagle on the 552-yard, par-5 third hole. Harrison sits only two strokes out of the top 10 and six shots off the 6-under pace set by a quartet of players.
House fired the low round of the day by a Roadrunner with a 2-under 70 in the morning after writing down five birdies with three coming on front. The senior from Rockwall recorded seven more birdies as part of a 74 in the second round and he is part of an eight-way deadlock for 18th. His 12 birdies are the third-best total in the field of 81-man field.
The final round is slated for Tuesday. House will tee off from No. 10 at 7:48 a.m. and Harrison will follow at 8:15 a.m. off the same hole. A live video stream will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN+ at espn.com/watch.
