SAN ANTONIO — UTSA senior Adam House and sophomore David Harrison will travel to Lafayette, La., to play in the 36th annual Louisiana Classics on Monday-Tuesday, March 15-16, at Oakbourne Country Club (par 72/6,866 yards).
Both will make their 2021 season debut while competing as individuals in the 54-hole, stroke-play tournament. Teams in the field include No. 5 Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas City, Louisiana, McNeese, Michigan, No. 38 North Texas, Oral Roberts, Rice, No. 49 Sam Houston, Southern Illinois, Texas State, ULM and UTEP.
The field will play 36 holes with an 8 a.m. shotgun start scheduled for Monday followed by the final round beginning with tee times at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
A native of Rockwall, House elected to take advantage of the NCAA spring sports waiver that provides an extra year of eligibility following the cancellation of the 2020 golf season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He played in six events and registered a 74.12 stroke average in 2019-20 while posting his top finish of 15th with a 1-over-par 214 — which included a career-low 68 in the opening round — at the Arizona Intercollegiate. House owns seven career top-25 finishes, topped by an eighth-place showing at the 2017 Border Olympics.
Harrison is a sophomore from Trophy Club who played in four tournaments and logged a 72.67 average last season. He made his collegiate debut by tying for seventh place with a 1-over 217 (70-72-75) at the Lone Star Invitational. The Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member also fired a 1-under 212 (70-72-70) to grab a share of 23rd at the 2019 Trinity Forest Invitational.
The Roadrunners moved up to No. 26 in last week's Golfstat rankings after a strong start to the month of March. UTSA has finished ahead of eight ranked teams in the last two tournaments, including ahead of then-No. 1 Arizona at the Cabo Collegiate at TPC San Antonio.
UTSA was scheduled to play as a team in last year's Louisiana Classics, but the season was halted the week prior to the event. Two years ago, the Roadrunners finished third behind top-10 performances from Chad Sewell (T-4th) and Michael Rome (T-9th), while Collin Clark earned a share of runner-up honors while playing as an individual.
