NORMAN, Okla. -- UTSA men's tennis won the doubles point and got singles points from Joao Ceolin (Palontina, Brazil) and Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) but No. 26 Oklahoma was able to edge the Roadrunners, 4-3 on Wednesday evening.
UTSA (6-4) fell at Oklahoma (7-6) on Wednesday, as the Sooners were able to overcome dropping the doubles point to the Roadrunners with wins on court 2, 3, 5 and 6 to claim the win.
The Roadrunners used the doubles teams of Reckow and Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia), and Javier Gonzalez (Trujillo, Peru) and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) to post the doubles point.
Ceolin and Reckow each claimed singles points, with Reckow winning on court 1 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), and Ceolin claiming a a court 4 win, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
"I am very pleased with our doubles," UTSA head coach Sergey Avedyev said. "We are playing really good in that area right now. Guys really competed hard today. We have to show up on all six courts to keep up our momentum. We lost five first sets today and we can't just get behind against top-30 teams. We'll continue to work hard to get better in singles and are defintely seeing the progress."
The Roadrunners will return to action on Friday, traveling to face Tulsa.
