SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field teams will travel to College Station to compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.
The Roadrunners will line up against a loaded field that includes Houston, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and host Texas A&M in what will be their final tune-up for the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb. 20-21 in Birmingham, Ala.
Field events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. with the women's long jump, while running events will get underway at 2 p.m. with the women's 3,000 meters. Live results will be available at flashresults.com/2021_Meets/Indoor/02-06_CharlieThomas/. A live video stream will begin at 3:05 p.m. on SECN+/ESPN+.
This will mark the Roadrunners' second visit of the indoor season to the Texas A&M campus, as they registered six podium finishes — highlighted by Grant Szalek's win in the men's high jump — at the Aggie Invitational on Jan. 23.
Szalek also captured gold in the high jump at last year's Charlie Thomas Invitational, while Bashiru Abdullahi won the men's 60m hurdles with a school-record time of 7.80 seconds.
UTSA won three events at last week's H-Town SpeedCity Series II in Houston. Chante Dixon crossed first in the women's mile and anchored the distance medley relay team to gold, and the freshman from South Africa was named C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week for her performance. The men also won the DMR to sweep that event, while Christie Le Roux collected silver in the long jump.
