SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Rice Sunday afternoon in the conference opener.
The Roadrunners were on the board early with a goal in the ninth minute. Lexi Bolton passed the ball backwards to the top of the box where Abby Kassal shot and found the bottom right corner of the net.
In the 23rd minute, the Owls found the net off a header to tie the game 1-1.
UTSA led once again in the 31st minute when Kassal found the far top corner off a corner kick.
Rice scored in the 66th minute off a free kick to take back the lead, 3-2, and held onto it until the final buzzer.
Lexi Bolton and Ellis Patterson each has three shots on the day. Jil Schneider played all 90 minutes and had one save.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday when they travel to Ruston to take on Louisiana Tech.
