DALLAS – Despite claiming the doubles point to open the day, UTSA men's tennis fell at SMU on Sunday morning at the SMU Tennis Center, 5-2.
"Not the result we wanted," UTSA head coach Sergey Avedyev said. "We couldn't bring the level today but we had moments where we could've captailized on a change of momentum and it just didn't happen today. We will keep working and getting better.
The match wraps up a pair of tests in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as UTSA cruised past Sun Belt power Texas-Arlington on Saturday.
UTSA (4-3) posted the doubles point but SMU (8-6) roared back to claim the match with wins on four singles courts.
The Roadrunners claimed the doubles point, getting a win on court 1 from Sebastian Rodriguex (Trijillo, Peru) and Joao Ceolin (Palontina, Brazil), 6-2. On Court 3, Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando Chile) and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) posted a 6-4 win.
UTSA will return to action on March 5, hosting Louisiana.
