SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will hit the road for a pair in the Dallas area, traveling to face UT Arlington on Saturday at 1 p.m. before facing SMU on Sunday at 11 a.m.
UTSA (3-2) is coming off a pair of wins over the weekend, besting New Mexico State and UTRGV in Corpus Christi at the H-E-B Invitational, played at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. The Roadrunners posted a 7-0 win on Saturday vs. UTRGV before posting a 6-1 win on Sunday.
UTSA was led over the weekend by several standouts, including senior Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil), who went 4-0 with two wins in singles and doubles. Ceolin is 3-1 in singles and sports a 3-2 mark over his doubles matches.
Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) also owns a 3-1 record in singles, with freshman Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia) UTSA's lone unbeaten in singles. Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) also sports a 3-1 mark in singles.
UT Arlington has posted a 1-2 record to open the year, falling vs. Utah and Baylor and earning a win over Cameron.
SMU sports a 7-6 record, including a 5-1 mark at home in 2020-21, highlighted by a 4-3 win over No. 23 Oklahoma on Jan. 31.
