Carreon, Gonzalez pace Roadrunners on opening day of Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Camryn Carreon and Ana Gonzalez are in the top 25 individuals to pace the UTSA women's golf team on Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/6,258 yards).
 
Carreon is in a tie for 15th place at 6-over par and Gonzalez shares 23rd at 8 over unofficially, as play was suspended during the second round due to darkness. The second round will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday followed immediately by the final 18 holes.
 
Behind that duo, the Roadrunners currently sit in ninth place in the 14-team field led by Baylor (-4). UTSA currently is one spot ahead of SMU and one place behind BYU and Washington at 15-over par with a no more than three holes left to play in the second round.
 
Carreon opened her second season with a 4-over par 76 that featured four birdies, including three as part of a 2-under 34 on the back nine. The San Antonio native currently sits at 2 over with two holes left to play in her second 18.
 
Gonzalez carded the low round for the Roadrunners with a 3-over 75 for the first 18. The three-time all-conference performer matched Carreon with four birdies, two on each side, and she currently stands 5 over with three holes remaining in round two.
 
Nicole Polivchak used a trio of birdies to post a 77 in her opening round and she currently is tied for 39th at 11 over for the tournament with three holes left in her second 18.
 
Hannah Holzmann is tied for 44th one shot behind Polivchak at 12-over par with three holes remaining in round two, while Katia Mexsen is in 71st with two holes left to play in the second round.
 
Oklahoma State's Maja Stark leads all individuals at 5-under par
