Roadrunners drop 1-0 decision to UTRGV

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against UTRGV on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon at Park West Athletics Complex.

"Soccer can be a cruel game at times," head coach Derek Pittman said. "Today was just one of those days. Very proud of our team's toughness and courage that they showed in difficult conditions. In the end, we have to finish more of the chances we create than our opponent and we didn't do that against a very organized UTRGV team. They scored their one chance and we didn't take ours. We continue to improve and progress as a team and we are learning valuable lessons as we prepare for conference play in the coming weeks."

In the 19th minute, the Vaqueros earned a penalty kick from a handball and found the bottom left corner of the net to score the lone goal of the game.

UTSA posted 12 shots in the game with Lexi Bolton leading the team with four. Abby Kassal had three on the day as well.

The Roadrunners return to action on Feb. 18 when they travel back to Houston to take on the Cougars.
