BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UTSA women's basketball team was swept by FAU after a 79-50 loss in game two Saturday afternoon at Abessinio Court at FAU Arena.
The first quarter was close the entire 10 minutes. The Owls were able to get up by five early on, but the Roadrunners remained in the game as both teams hit short scoring runs throughout the quarter. FAU led 21-18 at the buzzer.
In the second, Deja Jones made a layup to trail by one, 21-20, but the Owls went on an 8-0 run to lead 31-22 with 6:10 remaining. UTSA hit a 4-0 run to close the gap (31-26) until FAU extended the lead with a 14-0 run to lead 45-26. In the last 46 seconds, Mikayla Woods scored four points from free throws as the Roadrunners trailed 45-30 at the break.
Coming out of the locker room, UTSA scored two free throws, but a 9-0 run by the Owls pushed the lead, 55-32. Emilie Baek made a 3-pointer to break the scoring drought, followed by four-consecutive points by FAU. The Roadrunners hit a 5-0 run to trail by 19 (59-40). A 4-2 run closed out the quarter as the Owls led 60-45.
In the fourth, FAU had a 7-3 run through the first half. Kennedy Harrell scored two free throws, but a 7-0 run helped the Owls take the game.
