Jhivvan Jackson tabbed national player of the week

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA senior guard Jhivvan Jackson has been tabbed Lute Olson Award National Player of the Week, it was announced by CollegeInsider.com on Monday afternoon. 
 
Jackson, a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, averaged 24.5 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals over the two-game sweep of Southern Miss last weekend. Jackson had 24 points, four rebounds and four assists in a Friday night win, sinking 11 of 13 free-throw attempts. On Saturday, Jackson went for a game-high 24, with six assists, four rebounds and three steals, drilling six 3-pointers. 
 
The two outings give Jackson 71 career games with 20 or more points scored in his 104-game career. 
 
Jackson is the all-time record holder at UTSA for scoring, ranking third in Conference USA behind only Marshall's Jon Elmore and UTEP's Stefon Jackson. Jackson leads all active NCAA players with 2,328 career points. He is coming off a year where he set a new league record with 26.8 points per game. 
 
UTSA (7-8, 3-5 C-USA) hosts UTEP (7-7, 3-5 C-USA) on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Convocation Center in a game broadcast live on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM.
