Roadrunners upended by Lady Eagles

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UTSA women's basketball team fell to Southern Miss 88-64 Friday evening at Reed Green Coliseum.
 
Southern Miss opened the game with a 13-0 run to take an early lead. Karrington Donald broke the scoring drought at the 3:36 mark. The Lady Eagles hit another run (8-0) to push the lead. In the final minute, the Roadrunners scored two points as Southern Miss recorded five to lead 26-4 at the end of the quarter.
 
In the second, UTSA hit a 10-4 to close the gap to 16, 30-14. Both teams continued to find the basket at the Roadrunners posted a 7-2 run over a minute span as they trailed 36-23. An 8-0 run for the Lady Eagles helped them lead 44-27 at the half. UTSA outscored Southern Miss 23-18 in the quarter.
 
Coming out of the locker room, the teams battled it out all 10 minutes. Each hit multiple small scoring runs as the score continued to increase. The Lady Eagles scored just six more points (23-27) than the Roadrunners.
 
The battle continued in the fourth as both teams scored 20 points each. Ceyenne Mass scored nine points in the quarter to lead the team.
