CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Hannah Lopez and Courtney Walters had double-doubles but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi edged UTSA volleyball in four sets (30-28, 15-25, 21-25, 26-28), on Saturday at the Dugan Wellness Center.
UTSA (1-1) won the first set vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-0) before the Islanders rallied to win the final three sets, including a 26-24 result in the fourth set.
UTSA was led by double-doubles from Lopez, who had 15 kills and 13 digs, part of a team-leading 16 points and Walters. Walters finished with 42 assists, 12 digs and five kills.
Hunter Coppola had 14 kills and five digs, while freshman Amanda Ifeanyi – who had 21 kills in her collegiate debut last night – finished with 12 kills.
Mia Ybarra led UTSA with 16 digs on the backline, adding one of UTSA three aces.
UTSA hit for a .206 percentage, with the Islanders hitting .312 as a team. TAMU-CC was led by 12 kills from Chloe Simon and Rachel Young.
The Roadrunners will return to action with a Thursday-Friday swing through New Orleans, taking on Tulane.
